Hopeful World

In the morning, the sun rises,
Hope across the world.

Toddlers play, parents watch, hand out applesauce
Joyous world.

In the temple, monks meditate.
Peaceful world.

In the Capitol, white supremacists murder.
Mocking democracy and the people
Fear wounds, fear unsafety
Hateful world.

Dozens of white terrorists assault Asian women
In more than dozens of cities
And one terrorist murders 6 in Atlanta.
Violence bloodies the world.

Yet sun still shines.
Birds still sing.
Kids still play.
Toddlers play, parents serve
Applesauce in the park.

Hopeful world,
Loving world.
